チェコ20世紀の哲学者ヤン・パトチカは、コメニウスの根本的な意図は、自己中心性の克服をとおした「開けた魂」の実現にあると解釈した。コメニウスにおける開放性は、グローバル化する社会における共有価値と見なされる。さらに、開放性を光と関連づけるコメニウスとパトチカの視点に立つと、教育における開放と閉鎖の意味に多くの示唆が得られるであろう。
