仏教教団の構成員である比丘・比丘尼の教団生活を規定する律蔵には、家族との絆を完全に断って教団生活を行う出家者の姿だけが描かれているわけではない。律蔵中の、比丘が家族や親族と関わりを有する場面で禁止事項が緩和されることを示す事例や、出家後も維持されている比丘と親族（父母・兄弟・親族等）との関係を表す記述の存在を指摘し、初期仏教教団における比丘と家族の現実的な関係を明らかにした。（総16頁）
