綴織当麻曼荼羅の下縁部にあらわされていた九品来迎図は、11世紀末ごろには損傷が進み、当麻曼荼羅の転写本では坐像と立像の二種が存在し、どちらを補r無いの姿とみるかが重要な論点の一つとなっている。そこ小論では、綴織当麻曼荼羅を中国製とみる立場から、敦煌莫高窟に現存する同時代の九品来迎図の図相をもとに、唐代前半期における九品来迎図の図像的特徴や基本的要素を洗い出し、そのうえで、綴織原本の九品来迎図の図様を復原的に考察する。
