Summary

In this research project we attempted to study various aspects of "memory" and its representation (documents, monument, commemoration etc.) in the context of global history. This project is an interdisciplinary collaboration. Members of the project consist not only of historians (specialists of European and Japanese history), but also of specialists of art history, modern literature, social linguistics and modern social thought Each member made an intensive investigation into the problem of "memory and its representation" in his/her own research field.
