This study deals with historical painted folding-screen called "Rakuchu-Rakugai-zu Rekihaku "A" version". The folding-screen painting was depicted from bird's eye view of Kyoto and the surroundings. This screen is highly valuable resources of visual records of the landscape of Kyoto at the time that was painted. This has been frequently examined by researchers in the field of political history, economics, sociology, architecture, performing arts, and literature. The folding screens contain several unique innovations that allow the depiction of several scenes and landmarks on the limited frame, for example, the use of multiple drawing viewpoints; the use of golden cloud to abridge space. This study analyzes the drawn space of the folding screens with GIS in higher quantitative precision than existing studies.
