在曾是奈良東大寺尊勝院經藏的聖語藏中，至今保存著從中國的隋唐經到日本自奈良時代至鐮倉時代爲止的古寫經4960卷，其中包括菩提流支譯《寶雨經》（卷二、卷五、卷八、卷十）。此聖語藏本《寶雨經》共計四卷，卷末錄有光明皇后發願內容的天平十二年（740）五月一日之“奧書”即跋語，因此是作爲所謂“五月一日經”的一部分而抄寫的，只有卷九現藏於東京國立博物館。也就是說屬於五月一日經的《寶雨經》是抄寫於日本的寫本，然而引人注目的是，經文中卻使用了則天文字，而由此又可以推斷底本的抄寫年代。另外《寶雨經》在西陲的敦煌和吐魯番也
